On a perfectly overcast day in late September, Nicole and Mike were married in the lush gardens of Historic Londontown. From their waterfront ceremony to the electric dance floor, every detail of their Londontown wedding was thoughtfully curated to perfection.

How They Chose a Londontown Wedding
Nicole and Mike were drawn to the lush gardens and picturesque waterfront views of Historic Londontown & Gardens. Beautiful in all seasons, there’s no shortage of stunning backdrops for all of the moments on a wedding day.
Historic Londontown & Gardens also offers multiple spaces for the different parts of the wedding day. From the ceremony and cocktail hour in the gardens to dinner under the newly renovated tent, and finally to dancing in the pavilion – each space offers its own unique vibe.
Another major benefit to Historic Londontown & Gardens was its close proximity to downtown Annapolis, where Nicole and Mike hosted their rehearsal dinner, after-party, and guest accommodations.

The Vision
Nicole and Mike wanted to fully embrace and enhance the colorful garden vibe at Londontown. We focused on adding elements that added fun and color, infused Nicole & Mike’s personality, and enhanced their guest experience.
While Nicole & Mike wanted to bring lots of color into the reception design, they wanted to keep the ceremony clean & neutral. We planned to keep the florals at the ceremony neutral, focusing on whites and creams. In the tent & pavilion, we added in colors through the reception florals and linens. Nicole also opted to have her bouquet neutral, while her bridesmaids dresses and bouquets were full of colorful. I loved this juxtaposition of the two different design styles, and it worked so well at Londontown. As guests transitioned to the tent, the different design signaled that it was time to let loose and enjoy the party!
One of the most important aspects of the wedding day for Nicole and Mike was hiring an incredible band and prioritizing time for dancing. They love to go to concerts and see live shows together, so it only made sense that they brought this energy to their wedding day. Go Go Gadjet absolutely delivered with a high energy show that left the dance floor packed all night long. It felt like a private concert created just for them—a perfect way to close out their unforgettable day.

A Wet Knot is Harder to Untie
On a rainy September morning, Nicole and Mike each began getting ready at local Airbnbs. In the morning, the forecast looked almost impossible for an outdoor ceremony. We talked through our plans and began to prepare for the ceremony in Londontown’s pavilion, but thanks to an incredible vendor team, we didn’t have to make the call for the ceremony until much later in the day.
One of my favorite moments of the morning was Nicole’s first look with her bridesmaids. After stepping into her dress in Londontown’s Camellia suite, she surprised all of her bridesmaids with the sweetest first look. After an equally heartfelt first look with her Dad, it was finally time for Nicole and Mike’s first look.
As the rain had paused for a bit, Nicole & Mike were able to share their first look and private vows while tucked away in the gardens. After sharing a few moments alone, their wedding party and family joined in for a few portraits. Nicole & Mike wanted to enjoy as much of their cocktail hour as possible, which meant we made time for most of their photos prior to the ceremony.
Around this time, we had to make the final decision – whether to proceed with the garden ceremony, or pivot to their rain plan. With a very iffy weather forecast, the decision was up to Nicole and Mike. Ultimately, they chose to embrace the weather and get married outdoors overlooking the water, even if it meant a little rain. While this isn’t the right choice for every couple and every situation, it was definitely the right call for Nicole and Mike.
This was also one of my favorite moments of their wedding day. Instead of letting something totally out of their control cause stress or disappointment, Nicole & Mike fully embraced the weather. When they made the decision to have the ceremony outdoors, rain or shine, the love, excitement, and joy was palpable. They chose to focus on the incredible moment that awaited them, and not the weather. And you know what they say – a wet knot is harder to untie!
Ultimately, we were really lucky when it came to the rain. After a bit of a shower as guests arrived, the rain paused just long enough for Nicole & Mike’s ceremony. Officiated by Nicole’s Uncle, their ceremony was joyful and heartfelt. They were finally married!
As the rain started to resume almost on cue with their ceremony recessional, guests enjoyed cocktail hour under the tent and in the pavilion. After a first dance in the tent, a delicious plated dinner, and a few toasts, guests made their way into the pavilion where dancing began. Go Go Gadjet was such a hit, and the dance floor was completely packed all night long. Their show was incredible. Between their drum routines, custom medleys, and the visual elements – their performance was exactly what Nicole and Mike envisioned and dreamed of.
